Using Essential Oils And Aromatherapy To Balance the Chakras – The Crown Chakra & Afterword (part 8)

Crown Chakra Spray InstaThe seventh chakra is known as the Crown Chakra (Sahasrara in Sanskrit) and is located near the crown of the head. The colors associated with the crown chakra are violet and white and the element is thought. The Crown Chakra is different than the lower chakras because our goal is to open this chakra instead of balance it. When our Crown Chakra is open to the ultimate Source we feel the Universal energy coursing throughout us. We may feel like we are in the flow and able to bend like a willow tree. The Crown Chakra is the entry point of the life force energy know as prana. This energy nourishes every aspect of our being. Here it serves us to meditate and InJoy living in the moment. When the Crown Chakra is fully opened we may find the unity we seek with the Divine Spirit.

The Crown Chakra is associated with the skin, skeletal structure, cerebral cortex, central nervous system, pituitary gland and the master gland. When our Crown Chakra is not open we may suffer from emotional issues such as depression, rigidity or lack of belief and courage. Negative emotions and thoughts may control our minds if our Crown Chakra is closed. We may develop nervous system disorders, bone problems and genetic disorders. Nervous tension can prevent us from living our dream and creating our own reality when the Crown Chakra is closed.

Typically we would choose essential oils that vibrate at a high frequency to open our Crown Chakra such as Frankincense (Boswellia carterii), Sandalwood (Santalum paniculatum), Myrrh (Commiphora myrrha), Galbanum (Ferula galbaniflua), Vetiver (Vetiveria zizanoides), Ylang Ylang (Cananga odorata var. genuina), Neroli (Citrus aurantium var. amara), Rose (Rose damascena) and Elemi (Canarium luzonicum). These too are meditative oils which may assist us to quiet our mind and release negative thought patterns. Cleansing oils that purify and raise our spirits are helpful such as Sweet Orange (Citrus sinensis) , Petitgrain (Citrus aurantium var. amara), Bergamot (Citrus bergamia), Clary Sage (Salvia sclerea), Lavender (Lavendula angustifolia), Pine (Pinus ponderosa), Cedarwood (Juniperus virginiana), Lemon (Citrus limon) and Tea Tree (Melaleuca alternifoia). To assist our Pineal gland we may choose Frankincense (Boswellia carterii) or Sage (Salvia sclerea). Other oils that resonate with the ancient wisdom of our Crown Chakra are Lavender (Lavendula angustifolia), Jasmine (Jasminum grandiflorum), German Chamomile (Matricaria recutita), and Helichrysum (Helichrysum italicum). Linking the Root chakra and the Crown Chakra are the essential oils of Rose (Rose damascena), Melissa (Melissa officinalis) , Lavender (Lavendula angustifolia), Frankincense (Boswellia carterii), Vetiver (Vetiveria zizanoides) and Sandalwood (Santalum paniculatum). These linking oils are lovely to use to bring our chakras into harmony.

So what actually happens when all of our chakras are balanced, open and flowing freely? Have you ever felt like it was all going your way? Like you were in the flow of the currents, gently floating you to where you needed to be? Have you stepped out of bed with a giant smile, ready to greet the day? Have you felt the sun on your cheek and simply acknowledged how blessed you are to be alive? These are all signs that your chakras are balanced and open! These are wonderful signs that you are doing everything you possibly can to live a lovely, blissful life in absolute gratitude. This is definitely what I wish for myself and all beings in the world, but just in case you need a little guidance on essential oil use…

There are a variety of ways to apply Essential Oils and Aromatherapy in our every day lives. I personally use essential oils via inhalation (diffusers, inhalers, steam showers and misters) and topically (diluted in a carrier oil, cream or lotion at a 1-3% ratio). I also love soaking in essential oil salt baths (don’t use more than 6 drops of oil per bath and carefully mix it with a teaspoon of carrier oil before adding it to your salt). These are all great ways to practically use these therapeutic oils on a regular basis. If you search within you may find that you are drawn to specific oils. You may know already what aromas you truly enjoy. Combining your intuition with your preference you will likely be guided to a wonderful blend to assist you in mind, body and spirit.
