Using Essential Oils And Aromatherapy To Balance the Chakras – The Heart Chakra (part 5)

Heart Chakra Spray InstaThe fourth chakra is known as the Heart Chakra (Anahata in Sanskrit) and is located at the heart between the solar plexus and the throat. The Heart chakra tunes in to the element air and the color green. This is our connection to love and emotions revolving around love. Here we aspire to love unconditionally and search for the balance of giving and receiving. When balanced we feel self love and love with an open heart. The Heart chakra truly lies in the “heart” of it all and is the bridge between our physical and metaphysical realms.

It is extremely important to seek balance here in our Heart Chakra which also connects to our lungs, upper chest and back, shoulders, arms, hands, skin, immune system, thymus gland, and pulmonary and circulatory systems. When our Heart Chakra is not aligned we may lack self esteem and self love, become demanding, needy, shy or lonely. We may become ruthless and “heartless” with an inability to give and receive love. This may very well strip us of feeling the joy that we truly deserve. Physically we could develop high or low blood pressure, breathing issues such as asthma and lung disease or suffer a heart attack.

To assist our Heart Chakra we may seek essential oils that carry qualities of love and care such as Angelica (Angelica archangelica), Ylang Ylang (Cananga odorata var. genuina), Lavender (Lavendula angustifolia), Rose (Rose damascena), Bergamot (Citrus bergamia), Jasmine (Jasminum grandiflorum), Neroli (Citrus aurantium var. amara) and Melissa (Melissa officinalis) . We may need oils that support our thymus gland such as Rose (Rose amascena), Tea Tree (Melaleuca alternifoia) and Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus radiata). For breathing issues and respiratory support we may choose oils such as Galbanum (Ferula galbaniflua), Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus dives), Ravintsara (Cinnamomun camphora ct. 1,8 cineole) , Opoponax (Commiphora guidotti), Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis ct. 1,8 cineole), Peppermint (Mentha x piperita), Spruce (Picea mariana), Ravensara (Ravensara aromatica), Tea Tree (Melaleuca alternifoia), Myrtle (Myrtus communis), Myrrh (Commiphora myrrha), Cedarwood (Juniperus virginiana), Cypress (Cupressus sempervirens) or Siberian Fir (Abies sibirica). When we wish to relieve a heavy heart we may be drawn to aromas of uplifting oils such as Sweet Orange (Citrus sinensis), Cypress (Cupressus sempervirens), Lemon (Citrus limon), Frankincense (Boswellia carterii), Mandarin (Citrus reticulata) , Grapefruit (Citrus paradisi), Tangerine (Citrus tangerina), Lavender (Lavendula angustifolia) and Ylang Ylang (Cananga odorata var. genuina).
